01 about
CAESAR Art Studio is founded by a Belgian artist living in the Netherlands with an impressive artistic background. He graduated from the well-known fashion department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and worked as a designer for several (inter)national brands for 30 years. However, despite his successful career in fashion, he felt a longing for artistic freedom, which he sometimes found lacking in his work. His love for modern art, architecture, design, but also the beauty of nature and life in general, inspired him to make a career change leading him to pursue a path in fine arts with a new way of life. The freedom he was seeking was found in the Abstract Expressionism movement of the 1940s and 1950s in America, which is considered one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century. This movement involves creating large abstract works without recognizable images of objects, people, or landscapes but focuses on expressing inner emotions and feelings through spontaneous and intuitive gestures and movements, sometimes using the whole body. The resulting artworks are characterized by their unpredictability, energy, and personal connection to the artist. The use of monochromatic-colors or a wide range of bright colors is common, and the works are often complex and layered with a combination of refined and rough textures to create a sense of depth and movement. CAESAR Art Studio takes you on a journey through all the styles and techniques of those inspired artists such as Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman, Lee Krasner, Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell, Robert Motherwell, Cy Twombly, Franz Kline, Ellsworth Kelly and many others from the Abstract Expressionism. But also through other contemporaneous movements such as the Gutai movement with Kazuo Shiraga in Japan and L' Art Informel with Pierre Soulages, Karel Appel, Bram Bogart in Europe and Jean-Paul Riopelle in Canada, .... too many to mention. So let’s start the journey …
